Ice Breakers - Let’s get to know everyone!
10:00 – 10:30 Snack
Provided by HW staff
10:30 – 12:00 Signs of Wildlife
We will discuss what native animals leave behind (tracks, scat, fur, etc.) and set
out to find certain tracks along our trails.
Activity: Campers will take home a plaster foot print mold of their favorite Howell Woods animal.
12:00pm – 1:00 LUNCH BREAK
Get your grub on!
Please pack a picnic lunch with an icepack.
Your child will have an hour to eat, but most children will only need 30 minutes;
therefore there will be extra time for self-exploration. Bring a book, movie, go for
a short hike with a buddy, whiffle ball, kick ball, free time.
1:00 – 3:00 Nature Exploration
Campers will learn how to identify many of the trees and plants in our area by growth,
habit, form, bark, and leaf shapes.
Activity: Campers will use a nature journal to document what they see, hear and smell. They will also get to create leaf rubbings and use SunPrint paper with natural materials they collect during the hike.
3:00 – 3:30 Snack

Your child may want to bring a backpack to take with them when we are away from the building equipped with medical necessities (inhaler, epi-pen), bug repellant, water bottle, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, binoculars (we have some if your child doesn’t).
PLEASE WEAR CLOSED TOED SHOES!!!
