Linda Vann Lassiter Women's Society (LVLWS)

The Linda Vann Lassiter Women's Society (the Society) was created in 2019 to honor the philanthropic spirit of Linda Lassiter.

The late Linda Vann LassiterLinda served on the Johnston Community College Foundation Board of Directors. She always led with her heart to do what was best for students, faculty, staff, and the community whether that meant giving of her time, talents, or treasures. The Society offers an opportunity for women in our community to come together to
participate in philanthropy through education, mentoring, and various college and community-wide activities.
The Society brings together women from diverse backgrounds with a common goal: to improve the lives of those in the community and to emulate the values that Linda held so dear: faith, family, and philanthropy. Members share gifts of their time, talents, and annual financial contributions to continually build the Linda Vann Lassiter Women’s Society Endowment Fund.
In December 2018, Linda and her family gave a generous gift which was directed, after her passing, to start the Linda Vann Lassiter Women’s Society Endowment. The annual distribution of this fund, once fully endowed, will support scholarships for young women in Johnston County. A small portion of the gifts (20%) will be directed to the previously established Donnie E. and Linda V. Lassiter Impact Endowment Fund to meet emergent programmatic needs. The long-term goal of the Society is to build the endowment to ensure every rising 8th grade female student in Johnston County will be eligible to receive the Linda Vann Lassiter Women’s Society Scholarship to attend JCC upon graduation from high school. The Society will focus their support on the I-95 corridor until funding is established to expand the scholarship county-wide.
