Welcome new and prospective JCC students! We know that starting a new educational journey can be both exciting and overwhelming. Directly transitioning to college from high school or attending college for the first time, there are many decisions to make and we are here to support you the entire way. We want to build a strong foundation for the future you aspire!

First Year Experience Mission Statement

The First Year Experience (FYE) program is designed to support first year students as they begin their Jaguar Journey at Johnston Community College (JCC). The mission aims to compliment the College’s mission as it welcomes new students to the academic, social and cultural community of JCC.

The program is designed to provide a supportive, nurturing environment complete with educational and career guidance, so students can achieve all of their personal goals. We offer experiences, create opportunities and life long memories that are directly conversant with the educational philosophy and practices of the College.

Goals:

• Facilitate a smooth transition of new students to the Jaguar Community.
• Aid students in understanding their responsibilities as members of the academic and social communities.
• Provide all new students with opportunities for social and recreational activities that develop supportive networks and friendships that foster a sense of school pride.
