Career Readiness & Pathways
** Per N.C. General Statutes, individuals enrolling in courses offered through the Human Resource Development (HRD) Program may be granted a waiver of registration fees if they meet one of the four following criteria:

Are unemployed;

Have received notification of pending layoff;

Are working and are eligible for Federal Earned Income Tax Credit (FEIT)

Are working and earning wages at or below two hundred percent (200%) of the federal poverty guidelines
Career Readiness for the Professional Administrative Assistant Field
Learn about office administration – the skills, attributes, and work values necessary for employment in the field – and how to determine if a career as an administrative assistant is right for you. This course explains the role of technology in administrative work and how to prepare for a variety of entry-level positions. You’ll explore occupational training opportunities, wages, and trends that can help you find employment and career advancement.

Pathways to Careers in the Customer Service Industry
The ability to communicate and adjust to any customer's personality can make you an invaluable employee. This course introduces the many career opportunities available in customer service and covers concepts needed at the entry level: listening techniques, verbal and nonverbal communication. Participants will learn how to identify and resolve customer complaints, handle difficult customers, communicate effectively (verbally and nonverbally), use electronic media in appropriate and professional ways, and contribute to the service culture of an organization. This is a certification class.
