Online Notary Classes

Notary - Anyone who is needing or wanting to serve as a Notary Public in North Carolina. 

This course is approved by the Secretary of the State of North Carolina to train, qualify, and commission NC notaries. Students will learn the legal, ethical, and procedural requirements for notaries based on North Carolina law.

Requirements for the Online Notary Public Class:

  • Individuals MUST have a GED or High School Diploma to become a Notary Public in North Carolina.
  • Students must have a desktop computer with a working camera and audio. Students CANNOT use an iPad, or a cellphone to take this class!
  • Students MUST have MS Teams installed on their computer! All online Notary classes are held via MS Teams. 
  • Basic computer skills, internet connection, web camera, microphone, and an updated operating system
  • A learning environment, free from distraction and interruption
  • NC Notary Public Manual 2016 (REQUIRED)

Prior to class:

  • Approximately three days prior to your class start date you will receive a Welcome Letter with instructions (sent to the email address provided on your registration form) from Brenda Harris
  • Important class information will be provided in your Welcome Letter. Please read the Welcome Letter when it arrives via email!
  • Email a scanned COLOR copy of a valid, non-expired, government issued photo ID to Brenda Harris.
    • (a current NC Driver’s license is preferred; PLEASE NOTE: a temporary license is NOT acceptable)

Please note:

  • Registration Fee: $95 
  • NC Notary Public Manual (REQUIRED)

    • Each student is required to have a personal copy of the NC Notary Public Manual
    • NOTE: Notary books from Amazon do NOT contain the correct ISBN number and are considered "bootleg" copies.
  • When registering for class, please provide a VALID email address and CURRENT phone number in order to receive class instructions and information.
  • Per JCC policy self-supporting (SEF course code) classes are not eligible for a refund as these classes are funded by registration fees collected.
  • Students must register and pay for class at least five calendar days PRIOR to the class start date.
