e-Notary Classes
(for individuals who are already serving as a NC Notary Public)
Electronic Notary (e-Notary) - Anyone who wants to successfully pass the Electronic Notary exam.
This class is a second-level course and you must already be a NC Notary Public to take this course. Electronic Notary is the process of applying an electronic signature and seal to an electronic document in a completely electronic and paperless transaction. This process allows a notary to affix an electronic signature and notary seal that is legally binding. Participants will learn the electronic requirements to perform notary duties legally and ethically.
Requirements for the online e-Notary class:
- To be eligible for an e-Notary class you must be a CURRENT North Carolina Notary Public (in good standing) with the NC Secretary of State.
- If you are unsure about your Notary Public standing, please contact the NC Secretary of State Notary Division (919-807-2219) BEFORE registering for an e-Notary class.
- Attendees will need: Basic computer skills, a reliable internet connection, a web camera, a microphone, an updated operating system, as well as a learning environment that is free from distractions and interruptions.
Prior to class:
- Students must have a desktop computer with a working camera and audio. Students CANNOT use an iPad, or a cellphone to take this class.
- When registering for class, please provide a VALID email address and CURRENT phone number in order to receive class instructions and information.
- Approximately three days prior to your class start date you will receive a Welcome Letter with instructions (sent to the email address provided during registration) from Brenda Harris.
- Important class information will be provided in your Welcome Letter. Please read the Welcome Letter when it arrives via email!
- Email a scanned COLOR copy of a valid, non-expired government issued photo ID to Brenda Harris
- (a current NC Driver’s license is preferred; PLEASE NOTE: a temporary license is NOT acceptable)

- Registration fee: $90
- e-Notary manual (REQUIRED): $7.47

- Class Location: Online
- Per JCC policy self-supporting (SEF course code) classes are not eligible for a refund as these classes are funded by registration fees collected.
- Students must register and pay for classes at least five calendar days PRIOR to the class start date.
- Students MUST have MS Teams installed on their computer! All online e-Notary classes are held via MS Teams.
