How to REGISTER for a Notary Class
PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID-19 ALL Notary Public classes are postponed until further notice!
Early registration for Notary Public classes is highly recommended! Preregistration and payment is required. Class size is limited - register early!
> If paying for the class by mailing in a check or paying in person - print theCE Registration Form (PDF) - complete and submit with payment to the address listed on the top of the registration
>If your employer is to be billed - complete the Student Sponsorship Form (PDF) - (as well as the CE registration form above) and submit to the fax number or mail to the address listed on top of the CE Registration Form. If more than one person is attending, all attendees may be listed on oneSponsorship Form, but each attendee must complete a CE Registration Form
> If paying by credit card - complete your registration online through WebAdvisor
Click - 'Continuing Education'
Click - 'Register and Pay for Continuing Education Classes'
Search Word - 'Notary'
Click - 'Select' next to the class you wish to attend, then submit, follow prompts from there to complete registration and make payment
If your Notary has expired within the last year, you can visit the NC Secretary of State's Notary website to obtain your reappointment
You DO NOT need to retake the class.

This six-hour class is required for anyone interested in becoming a Notary Public
for the first time.
Note: The CURRENT edition of the Notary Public Manual for North Carolina (2016) IS REQUIRED (NO EXCEPTIONS) for admittance to the class and can be purchased at the JCC Bookstore. It is strongly recommended that you review the manual prior to class to be better prepared for the state examination given at the end of the class.
All Notary Public classes begin promptly at 8:00 a.m.
All Notary Public classes are held at the Workforce Development Center, 135 Best Wood Drive, Clayton, NC, 27520.
It is recommended that you arrive by 7:50 a.m. for class check-in purposes.
> Students must possess their own personal copy of the Notary Public Manual.
> Students must provide a current state or federal picture identification for admission to class. The ID must be a valid (not expired) ID with a picture of the face and either signature or physical descriptors or both.
NCGS 10B-5(b) provided the following requirements to be commissioned as a Notary Public in NC:
1) Be at least 18 years of age;
2) Reside or have a regular place of work or business in this State;
3) Reside legally in the United States;
4) Speak, read and write the English language;
5) Possess a high school diploma or equivalent;
6) Pass the course of instruction described in this Article, unless the person is a licensed member of the NC Sate Bar;
7) Purchase and keep as a reference the most recent manual approved by the Secretary that describes the duties and authority of notaries public;
8) Submit an application containing no significant misstatement or omission of fact.
Due to NC Secretary of State mandated course hour requirements, participants arriving 20 minutes late will not be permitted into the class. Please take note of the class location!

self-supporting (SEF course code) are not eligible for a refund as these classes are funded by registration fees collected.
