Computer Integrated Machining

CNC Turning Operator

This course introduces the operation of a qualified computer numerical controlled (CNC) program on a CNC controlled turning machine. Upon completion, students should be able to safely demonstrate the safe operation of a CNC turning machine.

Topics include the following:

  1. Basic understanding and use of CNC turning center
  2. Raw stock to finished part
  3. Basic Explanation of G & M codes
  4. Machine and work area safety
  5. Basic machine start up
  6. Basic machine power off
  7. Correctly load and unload parts
  8. Start running a program
  9. Haas Control keypad & Screen
  10. Basic blueprint reading
  11. Measuring tools
  12. Basic math
  13. Basic turning center cutting tools
  14. Common workpiece material
  15. Machine maintenance

Advanced CNC Turning

This course introduced the concepts and capabilities of multi-axis CNC turning centers. Emphasis is placed on Y-axis program application, C-axis indexing, live tooling and bar feeder application and programing. Upon completion the student should be able to write a fully integrated turning center G-code program which will include X, Y, Z and C axis of motion as well as the programmable bar feeder.

This class is designed for individuals whom have been programming CNC turning centers for more than 3 years or who have an Associate Degree in Computer Integrated Machining. Basic programming will not be covered in this class.
