Johnston County Project Skill UP
Johnston County Project Skill UP is a scholarship program specifically designed to provide short-term training leading to employment for those adversely affected by changes in the farming and tobacco industry or military families.
Johnston County Project Skill UP funding request
If you are:
> A past or present agriculture/tobacco farmer;
> A quota holder or a family member that has been adversely affected by changes in
the tobacco and agriculture industry;
> A past or present tobacco warehouse worker or family member;
> An Unemployment Insurance Claimant;
> An Unemployed or Underemployed (eaning within 200% of the federal poverty level
or below) adult;
> A NC National Guard Member;
> A Military Veteran or Spouse
You may be eligible for this scholarship opportunity. We can help get you in a training
program and assist you in your search for a new career!
Johnston County Project Skill UP funds can help with registration fees and book fees
purchased through the JCC Bookstore.
Students must be registering for a program or course of 96 hours or greater that leads
to a credential (either industry or state/national) and have a tie to the tobacco
or agriculture industry.
Some training programs funds can be used for are:
- Biotechnology
- Healthcare
- Manufacturing
- Human Services
And many other short term classes!
Funding for Johnston County Project Skill UP is provided through a grant from the
North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund.
