Financial Assistance
State Employees Credit Union (SECU ~ $500 award (reimbursement)
To be considered for this reimbursement program, a student must:
- Be a US citizen, North Carolina resident with a valid Social Security card and possess a current NC Driver’s License.
- Be enrolled in a short-term training program that leads to a state-regulated or industry-recognized credential that is offered through Continuing Education in CNA & Phlebotomy or Phlebotomy.
- Be in one of the following target groups:
- Unemployment insurance claimant
- Unemployed and underemployed adult (Note: Underemployed will be defined as individuals earning 200% below the federal poverty Preference will be given to students with limited or no access to financial aid from other programs.)
- Military veteran
- Member of the NC National
- Provide documentation (required) of proof of the above target group including the following information: unemployment information, current Federal Tax Return, current pay stub (if income is different than reported on current Federal Tax Return), DD214, and/or NC National Guard A W-2 from employment is NOT a valid form of documentation. Must be a completed tax return.
- Not be a Director, employee, or immediate family member of an employee of the State Employees’ Credit Union or SECU Foundation.
Generally, reimbursements are awarded once in September and once in January.
Golden LEAF Scholars Program ~ up to $250 (reimbursement)
To be considered for this reimbursement program, a student must:
- Be a resident of a Tier 1, 2 and some 3 counties (Wake County residency is not valid for this program, as it is considered a higher earning tier county).
- Meet the federal poverty level
- Be enrolled in a course of study of at least 96 hours leading to a state or national
- Provide a signed copy of your current Federal Tax A W-2 from employment is NOT a valid form of documentation. Must be a completed tax return.
- Provide a working email
This award is given as a reimbursement. Generally, there are reimbursements awarded once each semester (fall, spring & summer).
JCC Alumni Back to Class Scholarship Program ~ up to $185 (sponsorship) for registration expenses
Johnston Community College Foundation wants you to come back to class! Have you received a JCC curriculum certificate, degree or diploma or graduated from JCC with a certification in BioWork, EMS, Fire 1 or 2, Nursing Assistant 1 or 2 or GED/Adult High School diploma?
