Employability Skills Training/Human Resources Development

Human Resources Development (HRD) skills assessment services, employability skills training and career development activities for adults who are unemployed or underemployed.

*Registration fees for the following classes Employability Skills classes will be fee-waived for individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Unemployed
  • Working and earn wages at or below 200% of the federal poverty level guidelines
  • Working and eligible for Federal Earned Income Tax Credit (FEIT)
  • Received notice of pending layoff

Digital Literacy Certificate – 33 Hours

This course sets the foundation for other computer courses. This content introduces the student to the fundamentals of computing, explores the basic computer operating system, utilizes search engines, provides an understanding of security and privacy as well as an introduction to MS Office Applications.

Learn how to use technology to enhance your job search! Need to create a resume or cover letter, work on interview techniques, job searching and application assistance or soft skills training? Practice on KeyTrain for your National Career Readiness Certificate/WorkKeys test. Enter the classroom anytime and work at your own pace to fulfill your goals and career objectives. Working Smart Training - 24 Hours

Working Smart provides tools to help you keep a job, excel at your job and be more productive.During the training, students and job seekers will master the skills that employers know to be crucial for job success. In this course you will learn more about: Communication Skills, Problem Solving Skills, Time Management, Accountability, and so much more! If you are interested in increasing your chance for employment and promotion, Working Smart Training is the session for you!

This Soft Skills Program is endorsed by the Capital Area Workforce Development Board. Certification will be handed out after all classes are completed.

Direct Care Basics - 81 Hours

Direct Care Basics introduces students to the necessary skills and responsibilities of the Personal and Home Care professional. Participants will gain an understanding of what it takes to be a Direct Care Worker, and how to get and keep a job. Building on these skills, participants will also learn to include in home management and personal care tasks using limited assistance. Module 10 is taught by an experienced RN instructor. Participants will receive 6 hours of health care provider CPR during this class.

Skills for Success - 3 Hours
