Cosmetology - Continuing Education
The Cosmetology curriculum is designed to provide English and Spanish-speaking students with hands-on training in a simulated salon environment. Course work includes instructions in all phases of professional imaging, hair design, chemical processes, skin care, nail care, multi-cultural practices, business/computer principles, product knowledge, and other selected topics.
Graduates of the program are skilled in hairstyling, haircutting, sculptured nails technology, skin care, permanent waving and relaxing, and hair color. Upon completion of the program and after attaining a passing score on the State Board Exam, graduates are qualified to work in cosmetology salons and related businesses throughout North Carolina.
The program is estimated to cost about $1,900. Students may qualify for scholarship opportunities.
JCC also offers an associates degree and diploma as well as numerous continuing education courses in cosmetology.

Cosmetology Curriculum Program
- Summer 2022: COS 115 and COS 116 available for current or transfer students only -no new students.
- Fall 2022: Open to new, current and transfer students (entrance exam required for transfers).
Cosmetology Continuing Education Program
- Summer/Fall 2022: COS 1 ENROLLMENT OPEN. Class scheduled to start in July 2022. Students must successfully pass COS 1 prior to enrollment in COS 2 or COS 3.

Manicurist Licensing Class
Thank you for your interest in the Continuing Education Manicurist Licensing Class. Unfortunately, the next manicurist licensing class is not available at this time. Please check back in the Summer of 2022.
This comprehensive course provides instruction and clinical practice in manicuring, nail building (application and maintenance of artificial nails) and pedicuring. The course content includes nail anatomy, disorders of nails, and irregularities of nails; theory and salesmanship as it relates to manicuring; actual practice in manicuring; and arm, hand, and foot massage.
Manicurist Licensing Class is a one semester program.

Natural Hair Class

This comprehensive course provides instruction and clinical practice in natural hair care. The course content includes instruction in sanitation, bacteriology, disinfection, first aid, shampooing, draping, anatomy, disorders of the hair and scalp, client consultation, and the following natural hair care techniques: twisting, wrapping, extending, locking, blow dry and thermal iron. Graduates are qualified to work in cosmetology salons and related businesses throughout North Carolina.
