Cosmetology - Continuing Education
The Cosmetology curriculum is designed to provide English and Spanish-speaking students with hands-on training in a simulated salon environment. Coursework includes instructions in all phases of professional imaging, hair design, chemical processes, skin care, nail care, multi-cultural practices, business/computer principles, product knowledge, and other selected topics.
Graduates of the program are skilled in hairstyling, haircutting, sculptured nail technology, skin care, permanent waving and relaxing, and hair color. Upon completion of the program and after attaining a passing score on the State Board Exam, graduates are qualified to work in cosmetology salons and related businesses throughout North Carolina. Graduates will receive a Cosmetology Certificate upon completion of the program.
The program is estimated to cost about $1,963. Students may qualify for scholarship opportunities.

- Students must successfully pass COS 1 prior to enrollment in COS 2 and COS 3.
- The Cosmetology Evening/Weekend Program is a three-term program. Successful completion of the Cosmetology Continuing Education Program consists of the following terms: COS 1, COS 2, & COS 3.

Manicurist Licensing Class

This comprehensive course provides instruction and clinical practice in manicuring, nail building (application and maintenance of artificial nails) and pedicuring. The course content includes nail anatomy, disorders of nails, and irregularities of nails; theory and salesmanship as it relates to manicuring; actual practice in manicuring; and arm, hand, and foot massage.
Manicurist Licensing Class is a one semester program.

Natural Hair Class

This comprehensive course provides instruction and clinical practice in natural hair care. The course content includes instruction in sanitation, bacteriology, disinfection, first aid, shampooing, draping, anatomy, disorders of the hair and scalp, client consultation, and the following natural hair care techniques: twisting, wrapping, extending, locking, blow dry and thermal iron. Graduates are qualified to work in cosmetology salons and related businesses throughout North Carolina.
