Report on CARES ACT – HEERF Institutional Aid

Acknowledgment
Johnston Community College acknowledges that it signed and returned to the U. S. Department of Education the Certification and Agreement for Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund-Institutional Portion under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and assures that it intends to use the funds received as permitted under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
Amount of Funds Received
Johnston Community College was awarded $1,129,190 from the U. S. Department of Education pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement for Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund-Institutional Fund.
As a condition for receiving funds, Johnston Community College was required to also enter into the Funding Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the CARES Act.
Purpose of Fund
The purpose of the fund is to cover any costs associated with significant changes to the delivery of instruction due to the coronavirus. It may also, but is not required, to be used to provide additional emergency financial aid grants to students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus.
Amount of Student Emergency Financial Aid Expended
As of August 31, 2020, the total amount of Student Emergency Financial Aid which Johnston Community College has expended under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act from the IHEERF Institution portion is $238.
Amount of Institutional Aid Expended
As of September 1, 2020, the total amount of Institutional Aid which Johnston Community College has expended under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act is $174,191.76.
