Johnston Community College
Public Service Professional's Club

ARTICLE I: Name

The name of organization shall be; Johnston Community College Public Service Professional’s Club

ARTICLE II: Purpose

The purpose for which this club is organized is to meet the needs of students in the JCC BLET, Criminal Justice, Criminal Justice Latent Evident and Fire Protection Technology Degree Programs, and to make the community aware of the need for qualified Public Service Professionals specializing in Criminal Justice and Fire Safety technologies.

All members of the club will be an example of and promote professionalism in these fields of endeavor.

ARTICLE III: Organization

Section I: Membership

The membership shall consist of any full-time BLET, Criminal Justice, Criminal Justice Latent Evidence or Fire Protection Technology Degree Programs student of good moral character and good academic standing. 

ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS

Section I: Number and Title

The elective officers of this organization shall be:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer

Section II: Qualifications

Any active member of the Johnston Community College Public Service Professionals Club shall be eligible to be elected an Officer.

Section III: Nominations and Elections

The officers shall be elected annually by the secret ballot. The nominating period will begin on the first day of Fall Semester classes and close after two weeks. The election shall be held by secret ballot on the first Tuesday and Wednesday of the third week of the Fall Semester.

Section IV: Term of Office

The term of any office is one calendar year.

Section V: Vacancies

In the event of a vacancy in one of the officers, the Faculty Advisor shall appoint a replacement.
 
Section VI: Resignation or Removal

Any officer may resign at any time giving written notice to the officers, effective on the date of receipt of such notice or at any later time specified therein.

Section VII: Duties of the Officers

  • President
    • Preside over all meetings
    • Call all meetings
  • Vice-President
    • Preside over all meetings in the absence of the President
    • Serve as parliamentarian as required during meetings
  • Secretary
    • Maintain an official register of all members
    • Take all minutes of the meetings
    • Conduct official correspondence
  • Treasurer
    • Maintain accurate records of the financial status of the PSP Club
    • Endorse each expenditure of the PSP Club.

ARTICLE V: Meetings

Section I: All Meetings

Meetings shall be called by the President with the date, time and place being voted upon by the membership. The PSP Club Faculty Advisor must be present at all meetings.

Section II: Quorum

A majority of the number of membership present constitutes a quorum.

ARTICLE VI: Amendments

These bylaws may be amended by a 2/3 affirmative vote for the membership provided that the proposed amendment or revision shall have been presented in writing to the officers and advisor not less than one week prior to the voting.
