Look for our stickers across campus to find a SafeZone. We love our stickers, as they were designed by a Spectrum student!
SafeZone is an in-depth training that prepares JCC educators and employees to create
supportive environments for LGBTQ+ students and colleagues.
Trainees gain understanding of LGBTQ+ issues, increase their comfort in discussing LGBTQ+ topics and educating others, learn about local and national resources for LGBTQ+ people, and gain practical skills in how to appropriately support LGBTQ+ students and colleagues through various challenges.
Attendees will receive a detailed digital manual, SafeZone certification and the ability to host a SafeZone space on their campus. This training is offered as a free professional development once per semester to JCC employees.
Below you will find a directory of employees across JCC’s campus that have completed the SafeZone training and pledged to offer their offices as SafeZones to students and colleagues. If you are struggling regarding an LGBTQ+ issue, or just want someone to talk to, you can reach out to any of these employees. If they cannot help you themselves, they will know where to direct you.
