Black History Month Kick-off and Workshop

presented by the Student Government Association and The Black History Committee

"Building Resiliency: How Cultural Competence is Key in Developing Resilient People in the school(s) and in the community" by Ken Joyner
We will teach about the importance of learning how to practice and approach people from a position of being culturally competent. It will also provide ways to help build resilience in one's self, in others, and within the community.

The annual Black Business Expo will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn about and shop several local Black owned businesses. Participating business will have products and services that they offer while networking and knowledge sharing.

 Black History Exhibit and Reception

This culminating event is presented in collaboration with JCC's History Club. Artifacts and other items from the NC Museum of Art and the Heritage Club will be on display first hand during this event.  Come and see these awesome pieces of art and history while enjoying food, music, and fellowship.
