The QEP Resource Team
Writing Resources Guide
These writing resources guides are designed to assist students, faculty, and staff
with becoming comfortable formatting papers and documents. Information can be found
on MLA and APA citations, bibliography resources, and how to access citation builders
at North Carolina State University as well as UNC libraries. Links for additional
information are available about Plagiarism and Scholarly versus Popular Sources.
The Jaguar Writing Portal
The Jaguar Writing Portal is a FREE writing tutorial service available to all JCC
students. Professional English and writing tutors will review your written work and
provide meaningful feedback. The writing portal tutors will not edit or fix drafts.
But the tutor will make suggestions about improving a student draft through clarification
and explanation. This online portal is available 24/7. Feedback is received within
24 hours.
The Jaguar Tutoring Center
The Jaguar Tutoring Center’s goal is to provide high-quality academic support to currently
enrolled Johnston Community College students. The center provides group and individual
tutoring at no cost to the student. Tutoring is provided by professional tutors and is available in most subject areas. Jaguar Tutoring English and writing tutors provide a comfortable, supportive place
to work on your academic writing assignments, digital publications (blogs, wikis,
and social media), literary competition submissions, transitional and application
essays, career search letters, and writing for fun. The tutoring center also provides
online tutoring through ThinkingStorm.
JOLT (Jaguar Office of Learning Technology)
JOLT expands learning opportunities by providing technical support to students and
faculty for online, hybrid, or interactive television [ITV] course delivery methods.
JOLT also assists faculty, staff and students with academic and technology needs by
providing one-on-one help and group workshops.
