Frequently Asked Questions at The Writing Center
How can I get help with my grammar?
A Writing Tutor/Specialist will do structural editing by showing the student how to strengthen the body of the paper by revision, re-arrangement or omission.
The Writing Tutor/Specialist does not edit for grammar, spelling or punctuation. If the Tutor/Specialist notices that a type of grammatical error repeats itself (for example, fragments, run-ons or pronoun agreement errors). The Tutor/Specialist will point these out and direct you to the appropriate sections in the Penguin Handbook.
What if there is not a tutor for my class or what if I can’t make it to campus for an individual tutor?
