The TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) is an assessment used as part of the admissions process for Nursing, Radiography, Medical Sonography, Cardiovascular Sonography, and Nuclear Medicine. The test is a 170 question multiple choice assessment and takes approximately 3 hours to complete. The computerized assessment contains four parts: Reading, Mathematics, Science, and English. It can only be taken once per academic year. The individual sections and timing allowances are as follows:
- Reading: 50 minutes
- Mathematics: 56 minutes
- Science: 38 minutes
- English and Language Usage: 65 minutes
Students are scheduled for the TEAS only after the Health Science program specific application has been submitted and all program admissions requirements have been met. The cost of the assessment is $35.00.
A TEAS study guide is available from the JCC Bookstore or from the test publishers at www.atitesting.com. A skills review program is offered during the year through the Academic Skills Center. Students may also wish to visit www.testprepreview.com for additional study resources.
