The Successful New Supervisor Series

New supervisors have unique needs because transitioning into management requires that they master a unique set of skills and competencies in a short amount of time. This 12-hour series of workshops provides new supervisors with the skills necessary to increase their effectiveness quickly. Series topics include: the role of the supervisor, communications (including verbal, written, email and voicemail), performance management, coaching, and compliance/legal issues. Lecture, demonstration, role play and practical applications are the instructional methods used in this course. Classes do not need to be taken in sequence.

Communications Toolbox

How do you communicate with a culturally diverse workforce? Use the communication tools from this course to build relationships and enhance your influence. You will examine communication challenges, (angry E-mails and difficult conversations), Communication strategies for writing E-mails and other correspondence, Conducting conversations by phone, in person and in business meetings. You will also learn how to give positive and corrective feedback.

Compliance and Legal Issues in the Workplace

This course will address questions such as: What is compliance? How do new supervisors know if they are out of compliance? What legal issues in the workplace should a supervisor be concerned about? Why is documentation important?

How do you set performance expectations? How do you measure performance? How do you give corrective feedback to a low performing employee? What steps do you take once you’ve identified a performance problem?   How can you reward employees when there’s no money in the budget?  How can you coach staff and motivate your team? These questions and more will be addressed in this series.

BRING YOUR LUNCH and enjoy a series designed for women of all occupations who are seeking to increase their ability to achieve and succeed. This series is designed to give you the tools you need to “get it all done” in today’s hurry-up, produce-more-with-less business environment.
