Johnston Community College offers Summer Youth Camps that provide unique academic and enrichment educational experiences for k-12th graders. The camps are designed to teach meaningful skills, develop new interests and hobbies and excite and motivate students about learning. Most importantly, they will be ABSOLUTELY FUN!

Cleveland 2011 summer youth camps

Start your summer learning the fundamentals of keyboarding from an experienced instructor. Be amazed by how much progress you can make in a week.June 13-17

Basic Drawing
Working with drawing pencil and pad, learn drawing techniques to include: perspective, shadowing, highlighting and “the artist’s eye.” A good time to develop those artistic skills learning from a commercial artist. Real Guitar Hero
Are you a teen who wants to play real guitar….not just guitar video games?Are you a parent who wants your teen to learn an instrument, or are you looking for an awesome summer experience for your teen?
Unleash your inner musician and learn the basic elements of playing guitar! No previous knowledge of the guitar is necessary for this class.
In the two week summer camp for rising 6th - 10th graders, learn basic music theory, including chords, rhythm, reading tablature and playing by ear. You will learn to play popular songs from various music styles such as rock, blues, jazz, country, and gospel.
Acoustic guitar preferred but not required; electric guitars are allowed with amp & headphones required. (The book costs approx. $11.00)
