TRACS - FAQ
Telephone Registration and Computer System
- When can I call the TRACS?
- The TRACS phone lines will be available 24 hours a day. You may start
calling in at 12 am on your activation date. When you meet with your advisor, you will be given an Activation Date. This date tells you when you can begin calling the TRACS lines to enter your registration. You must see your advisor in order to have your advising hold removed before you can register. The computer will not
accept your call if you phone in before your activation date.
- What do I need to access the TRACS?
- You will need the following items to use TRACS:
- A completed Telephone Registration Worksheet
- Your social security number or Colleague ID
- Your personal identification number (PIN)
- Course identification numbers (Synonym) for each course you want
- Your Visa or MasterCard number if you plan to charge your tuition and fees
- A Touchtone™ phone
- What is a PIN?
- PIN stands for Personal Identification Number. The number is
your access code to the TRACS. Without the number, the computer will not accept
your call. Your PIN is your 6 digit birth date. For example, February 3, 1977 would be 020377.
- What is a Telephone Registration Worksheet?
- The Telephone Registration Worksheet takes the place of the
registration form. The worksheet has step-by-step instructions on how to use TRACS.
- What is a Synonym?
- Each section of
each course has a different Synonym. This allows you to enter, by phone, a 6-digit
number for each course on your worksheet. (This is much easier than trying to
use the alphabet on your phone to spell out "ENG" or "MAT." ) The Synonym's are
listed on the schedule.
- What if I register by phone and then decide to add or
drop a class?
- You may call the TRACS as many times as you wish to change your
schedule.
- What if I make mistakes and really mess up my
schedule?
- At the end of each call to the TRACS you must enter a "9" to
save any changes that you made during that call. If you make a mistake in
entering your schedule, hang up without entering "9" and all entries made
during that call will be erased. Just redial and reenter your choices again. Note:
You must enter "9" to save your schedule. Your registration will not be
complete until you enter "9."
- What do I do if the class I want to take is full?
- If a course is full, TRACS will tell you. You may then try
another section or another course. When you meet with your advisor, select
several alternative sections and/or courses in case you first choice is filled.
- I am an online student. How will I register for
classes?
- If you are an online student who has been accepted, prior to registration,
you must e-mail your advisor
with a list of courses you wish to take online. Your
advisor will verify that you have met any prerequisite requirements and e-mail
you your Activation Date. You will then follow the
instructions for TRACS. Visiting students will be required to provide either
transcripts or a visiting student letter to their advisor if prerequisites are
required prior to receiving their Activation Date. Students enrolled in online
classes are required to login to Blackboard no later than three days into
the semester.
- How do I pay for my classes?
- Credit Card: You may use a Visa or MasterCard to
charge your tuition and fees at the same time you call the TRACS line to
register. You also have the option to recall the TRACS line to charge your tuition and fees anytime during the early registration period. Once early registration is over, the TRACS line is closed and payment must be made at the cashier's window in the Wilson Building on or before the published due date.
- Check or Money Order: If you plan to pay by check or money order, you are encouraged to pay your fees within two days after completing your registration by phone. You will make you payment
at the Cashier's window at the Business Office in
the Wilson Building.
