Academic Regulations

Orientation

All students in certificate, diploma, and associate degree programs are required to complete an orientation course to graduate from the College.  The course is designed to help incoming students learn and adjust to the academic and social environment of the College.  Students are strongly advised to register for this course during their first semester at the College.

In the course, the various services provided at the college are explained.  The policies and procedures of the College are also discussed.  Special emphasis is placed on study skills and personal development essential for success.

Students will take ACA 111 (College Student Success) or ACA 115 (success and Study Skills) as their orientation course.  Students who are required to take two or more developmental courses in either reading or English will need to enroll in ACA 115.    During the admissions interview with a counselor, students will receive a course assignment sheet indicating whether they are to take ACA 111 or ACA 115.
