Six Students Receive SECU Scholarships

Six continuing education students at Johnston Community College were recently awarded scholarships by the State Employees Credit Union.

The scholarships in the amount of $750 will pay the tuition for students enrolled in a short-term training program that leads to a state-regulated or industry-recognized credential that is offered through continuing education programs at the college. Students who qualify must be unemployed or underemployed, military veterans or members of the national guard and not be a director, employee, or immediate family member of an employee of the SECU.

The following six students received scholarships: Winifred Medlin of Four Oaks who is studying certified nursing assistant; Sharon Gronendyke of Princeton, who is studying phlebotomy; Kayla King of Raleigh, who is studying EKG; Margaret Parrish of Clayton, who is studying CNA II; Stephanie Morton of Sims, who is studying biowork; and Lenae Sizemore of Raleigh, who is studying certified nursing assistant.
