Chef Judy's Jaguar Grill is now open for business!
Chef Judy debuted last week, and after a few days in the kitchen her food is getting rave reviews.
"So far everyone has loved the food, and we're so glad we're here," she said.
In addition to traditional grill fare, Chef Judy is offering daily lunch specials that feature a variety of home-cooked favorites, like herb roasted chicken and rice pilaf, spinach and cheese ravioli with grilled chicken, smothered pork chops, and fried chicken and mac and cheese.
"We specialize in comfort food, good home-cooked food that makes you feel like hugging somebody," she said.
The grill also serves hot breakfast, and the breakfast bowl featuring grits, eggs, cheese, choice of bacon or sausage topped with parsley is a becoming a fan favorite.
Patrons can also get freshly prepared salads, pasta salads, and chicken salad. In the future, she plans to add a dessert menu featuring a variety of homemade cake slices.
"I have a very diverse menu style, I can make Italian, I can prepare Asian, and so I'd love to bring some of that to this community as well," she said. "I'm excited to learn what food works for the campus and the community."
A Chicago native, Chef Judy started cooking for her siblings as a young girl at the age of 9. At 17, she entered the U.S. Army as a cook and since her military service has gained lots of experience as a catering chef at Fayetteville State University, hotels, golf clubs and retirement homes. Eight years ago, she opened her catering business Let Me Cater to You and now operates two dining locations in Fayetteville and Spring Lake.
She has also competed on Food Network's Chopped a few years ago and just recently on Cutthroat Kitchen, an episode which will air in 2017.
Chef Judy is training Chef Alvin as the head cook in the kitchen and Melissa is the grill's friendly supervisor.
