Johnston Community College is proud of the training opportunities it affords the citizens of Johnston and surrounding counties. The mission of the College is to provide skills training designed to improve the local, regional, and state work force and to provide an academic program transferable to four-year colleges. The College offers an array of credit and non-credit courses and programs to develop technical knowledge, to increase basic literacy skills, and to add cultural enrichment.
It is my vision that Johnston Community College continue as a center of community activity. We strive to enhance the lives of our constituents through a regional environmental educational center at Howell Woods, a 2,846 acre natural area in southeast Johnston County; an arboretum; and a 1,000 seat performing arts center. The center hosts a bimonthly country music show and a concert series featuring classical, big band, and bluegrass music as well as plays and variety acts.
