Johnston Community College

Named for the late Walter B. Elsee, a former member of the College’s Board of Trustees, who was honored by the Foundation as Distinguished Citizen, the building was constructed in 1978. Major portions of the building were renovated in 2006.

The Basic Skills, Adult Basic Education, General Educational Development (GED), Adult High School, and English as a Second Language programs are located in the 20,000-square-foot Elsee Building. The Compensatory Education program is housed in a modular unit adjacent to Elsee that may be accessed via Lakeside Drive.

In addition, various personal enrichment classes, including motorcycle safety and defensive driving, are offered in Elsee Building along with numerous computer, business & industry services, and health and emergency services courses.

Other Continuing Education programs and offerings are held at the College’s off-campus centers, the Public Safety Services Complex, and additional community sites.

The Elsee Building (A) is located at the northern end of the campus adjacent to the Wilson Building. Parking is available in front of the building off College Road in the "A" parking lot.
