Gray Squirrel
- Participation for a walk-on hunt for gray squirrel will be
handled on a first come, first served basis based on the number of available
hunting slots. All applicable hunt fees are due before proceeding to
designated hunting area.
- Gray squirrel hunting will begin after 9am
and end 30 minutes after official sunset on the designated hunt days and
will be limited to six designated hunting areas with a maximum of two
hunters per area.
- Walk-on hunters for gray squirrels must be present by at least 30 minutes prior to the desired hunt time the day of the hunt to take the Hunting at Howell Woods open book exam and to
receive assigned hunting area.
Hunting fee will not be pro-rated for half day hunting.

All monies collected from all the hunting related activities that are conducted on
the property are used to fund the continued operations that benefit the ongoing
wildlife/habitat management, environmental education, and low impact outdoor recreation
activities. Simply put, wildlife conservation pays for wildlife conservation!
- Gray Squirrel - $10/hunter
- Hunt Duration - One day
- Harvest Penalty for Fox Squirrel - $250 and confiscation of harvested animal
and loss of future hunting privileges at Howell Woods.
