Many companies and businesses choose to "match" the contribution of their employees to nonprofit organizations and will match your gift to an equal dollar amount. Some firms actually will match the gift to three times the value.
Most companies with a matching gift program will have guidelines and forms to be followed. Typically, there is a human relations department or business office that works with employees in preparing the proper documentation. Donors often can include retired employees, spouses, or widowed employees as well as currently employed personnel.

As an employee of a firm without a matching gift program, you may want to see if one can be established as a way of demonstrating the commitment of that business to charitable organizations.
