An esthetics license is required for skin care professionals by the North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Arts. Students learn the art of make-up application through color analysis of skin and hair tone, the concept of beauty products, superfluous hair removal, skin care, make-up, aromatherapy, massage, safety, and more. JCC is offering these classes beginning with spring semester 2000.
The North Carolina Board of Cosmetic Arts requires 600 hours in an accredited school, such as JCC, and upon completion of the required hours, the student is qualified to take the State Board exam for Estheticians. Students will be prepared to sit of the certification exam and to seek employment in a salon setting.
The North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Arts sets the standards for all cosmetology programs in North Carolina and the coursework for the program is consistent with the standards.
