Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-Basic)
Emergency Medical Technician is offered two times per year. The class meets every Tuesday and Thursday night, with some Saturdays. This course meets requirements for the NCOEMS and National Registry standards. Upon successful completion of the class, the student is eligible to sit for the NC EMT Basic examination. 24 hours of clinical is required.
Classes begin every January and August.

The required textbook and workbook is Brady's Prehospital Emergency Care, ninth edition, by Mistovich/Karren, ISBN 0-13-502809-4 (textbook), ISBN 0-13-508122-8 (workbook).
Emergency Medical Technician- Intermediate (EMT-I)
The class meets every Monday and Wednesday night, with some weekend classes. This course meets requirements for the NCOEMS. Upon successful completion of the class, the student is eligible to sit for the NCEMT-Intermediate examination. 48 clinical hours must be completed for this class. Classes begin in January and August of each year.
Next class June 8 or 9 in the Public Safety Building Auditorium. Beginning at 8:30.
Cost: $175.00 (plus you must be affiliated with an EMS, fire or law enforcement agency)

Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P)
Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic is a year long program beginning in January and finishing in December each year. This class is offered on a “shift-friendly” schedule. The student is required to come to class one day per week; on Monday OR Thursday. There are Saturday and Sunday classes each month with the exception of January. The student will be given a syllabus the first day of class to meet weekend class scheduling requirements. The weekend classes are mandatory. This course is accelerated. EMT Basic’s with at least one year of experience are eligible, EMT’s with less experience are considered on a case by case basis. This class meets the requirements for NCOEMS and National Registry Standards. After successful completion of the class, the student is eligible to sit for the NC EMT-Paramedic examination.
There are 500 hours of clinical contact hours that must be completed. Successful completion of class offers certifications in ACLS, PALS/PEPP, PHTLS and AMLS.
Registered Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, or Military Medic’s may bridge to NC Paramedic through this program with advanced standing based on prior education and work experience. Please contact the program administrator for details. (919) 209-2135.
