Computer/Software Requirements


Suggested Computer/Software Requirements

  • USB port (minimum of 2)
  • 350 MHz processor, Pentium II
  • 64 MB RAM
  • 4 MB video memory
  • 150 MB available on hard drive
  • CD-RW drive or CD-RW/DVD combo
  • Cable modem or Broadband internet connections

PC Software

  • Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP or Vista
  • Web Browser: Internet Explorer 7.0 or above
  • Productivity: Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook)
  • Documentation: Adobe Reader
  • AntiVirus: Symantec Norton Antivirus

An instructor may require you to view a document or work on an activity in which you do not have the necessary plug-ins. Many of them are free and can be downloaded from the following sites:

Network Connection

  • Broadband (DSL or cable modem) connection is strongly recommended for wired connection. Large size files may take considerable time to download through dial-up. Therefore, dial-up is NOT recommended for internet courses. If you have America Online (AOL), minimize the AOL browser. Use Internet Explorer to access Blackboard.
