Full Time EMS Instructor

The duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to providing a comprehensive educational instructional program committed to quality teaching and successful student achievement. Employees in this classification perform instructional work. Position is responsible for teaching classes and instructing students; clinical scheduling; preparing lesson plans; preparing tests; grading papers; and counseling and advising students.

Minimum Requirements: Associate's degree in related field. Two years teaching experience as a Level II EMS instructor or equivalent. Certified as a paramedic in North Carolina.

Preferred Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Full Time Financial Aid Specialist

The duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to performing and assisting with the coordination and administration of federal and state grants and other financial aid programs ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and college regulations, assisting with the disbursement of the Pell Grant, and counseling students regarding available financial aid programs and tax credits.

Minimum Requirements: Associate’s degree in a Business related field. One the three years experience working in a Financial Aid Office.

Part Time Compensatory Education Substitute Instructor

The duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to to plan, assess the learning level, and teach individual curricula for mentally retarded, emotionally disturbed or learning disabled adults. The position is responsible for teaching classes and instructing students; preparing lesson plans; evaluating students, setting individualized goals; and counseling and advising studentsfederal, state and local programs.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in education, human services or a related field. One (1) to two (2) years previous experience and/or training that includes working with individuals with various disabilities.

Preferred Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree supplemented by a minimum of two years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Teaching experience on a multi-level basis; ability to adapt education materials to the needs of the individual student as well as to the entire class.

Part Time HVAC Instructor

The duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to creating, assessing and providing HVAC training at Johnston Correctional Institution. Must be able to create lesson plans in accordance with state requirements, maintain appropriate support documentation and teach within a structured environment. Daytime flexibility required.

Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent with five years as a certified HVAC Service & Repair Technician with classroom teaching experience in servicing and repairing commercial and/or residential units.

Preferred Requirements: Associate Degree in HVAC with five plus years as a certified HVAC Service & Repair Technician and teaching experience within a prison environment.

Part Time Plumbing Instructor

The duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to creating, assessing and providing training at Johnston Correctional Institution. Must be able to create lesson plans in accordance with state requirements. Daytime flexibility required. (23-28 hrs per week)

Minimum Requirements: Plumbing certification with three to five years of plumbing work experience and training that includes teaching adults in the field.

Preferred Requirements: Associate Degree in plumbing with three to five years as a certified plumber with teaching experience in an adult educational setting.
