Excel Level I (6 Hrs)

Are you self-taught in Excel or do you know nothing about it at all? Either way this is the class for you! This course is designed for the professional who will use Microsoft Excel as a tool to assist them in storing and analyzing numeric data. The topics in this course cover the critical skills necessary to create and modify a basic workbook. Learn the basics of Excel and how it can be used to store, manipulate, and analyze your data. You will learn shortcuts and techniques that will blow your mind! Kathleen Healy Schmieder has been an instructor at Blue Ridge Community College since 2003 teaching courses for Continuing Education and Workforce Development in Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook. Are you thinking about using QuickBooks - the most popular accounting package used by small businesses across the country? Need to make sure you can create accurate and timely financials reports? Our workshop will teach you the basics of how QuickBooks works including:
• Setting up the company file
• Customizing templates
• Setting up customers and vendors
• Creating invoices, receiving payment, and making deposits
• Entering and paying bills
• Reconciling bank, credit card and loan accounts
• And more!
This hands-on workshop is taught by Jess McLamb, president of Roper Bookkeeping and a Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor. Attendees will use QuickBooks in an interactive, hand-on learning experience. Class size is limited so register early! Lunch hour provided.

Understanding and Motivating Others in the Workplace (6 Hrs)

Want to be able to motivate employees, co-workers, or supervisors more easily? Using the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) as a guide, this seminar will provide you with practical approaches for understanding and motivating those around you as well as improving productivity and increasing job satisfaction. You will gain an understanding of the four scales of the MBTI (energy sources, information-gathering, decision-making and organizational styles) as well as “motivational languages” in the world of work. This seminar will focus on using the communication and work style differences between people constructively, allowing their strengths to work together to create a positive work environment. You will gain an understanding of how to recognize, appreciate, and make effective use of the differences in people you work with. Susan has been a Myers-Briggs consultant for 15 years. She is passionate about helping individuals and teams reach their potential! A one hour lunch break is included.
