Manicurist Licensing

This comprehensive course provides instruction and clinical practice in manicuring, nail building (application and maintenance of artificial nails) and pedicuring. The course content includes nail anatomy, disorders of nails, and irregularities of nails; theory and salesmanship as it relates to manicuring; actual practice in manicuring; and arm, hand, and foot massage. Manicurist students must complete 300 hours in an approved beauty school or college before applying to the State Board of Cosmetic Arts for examination. Students enrolled only in manicuring shall only perform services directly relating to the prescribed course in manicuring. Please note, this is a comprehensive course to provide training for those persons interested in becoming licensed manicurists only and not desiring to become licensed cosmetologists.

Manicurist Licensing is a one semester course. Estimated class cost: $ 975

Cosmetology Instructor Class

The Cosmetology Instructor curriculum provides a course of study for leaning the skills needed to teach the theory and practice of cosmetology as required by the North Carolina Board of Cosmetic Arts.

Course work includes requirements for becoming an instructor, introduction to teaching theory, methods and aids, practice teaching, and development of evaluation instruments.

Graduates of the program may be employed as cosmetology instructors in public or private education and business.

Cosmetology Instructor is a two semester program. Estimated program cost: $700

Esthetics Program

The Esthetics curriculum covers the concept and techniques of esthetics. Concept topics include orientation, anatomy, physiology, hygiene, sterilization, first aid, chemistry, basic dermatology, and professional ethics. The techniques of esthetics are covered in a comprehensive experience in a simulated salon setting. Topics include client consultation, facials, body treatments, hair removal, make-up applications, and color analysis.

Upon program completion students should be able to demonstrate and understand the esthetic concepts and safely and competently demonstrate esthetic services on clients in a salon setting.

Esthetics is a two semester program. Estimated program cost: $2000
