Cosmetology Evening/Weekend Program

The Cosmetology curriculum is designed to provide English and Spanish-speaking students with hands-on training in a simulated salon environment. Course work includes instructions in all phases of professional imaging, hair design, chemical processes, skin care, nail care, multi-cultural practices, business/computer principles, product knowledge, and other selected topics.

Graduates of the program are skilled in hairstyling, haircutting, sculptured nails technology, skin care, permanent waving and relaxing, and hair color. Upon completion of the program and after attaining a passing score on the State Board Exam, graduates are qualified to work in cosmetology salons and related businesses throughout North Carolina.

The program is estimated to cost about $1,900. Students may qualify for scholarship opportunities.

JCC also offers an associate's degree, diploma, and instructor certificate as well as numerous continuing education courses in cosmetology.

The Cosmetology Evening/Weekend Program is a three semester program.

Days/Times: Thursdays and Fridays, 3:00-10:45pm; Saturdays, 9:00am-4:45pm

Esthetics Program

The Esthetics curriculum covers the concept and techniques of esthetics. Concept topics include orientation, anatomy, physiology, hygiene, sterilization, first aid, chemistry, basic dermatology, and professional ethics. The techniques of esthetics are covered in a comprehensive experience in a simulated salon setting. Topics include client consultation, facials, body treatments, hair removal, make-up applications, and color analysis.

Upon program completion students should be able to demonstrate and understand the esthetic concepts and safely and competently demonstrate esthetic services on clients in a salon setting.

Esthetics is a two semester program. Estimated program cost: $1100

Dates: August 19 - December 5 (COS 3102: Esthetics I)

Monday/Wednesday ~ 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.; Tuesday/Thursday ~ 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Evening Program ~ Days/Times: Monday - Thursday ~ 5:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
