Basic PCs and the Internet– 18 hrs
This course is a basic, introductory course for students that have some basic knowledge of the computer but have never had formal training or for those that have no experience at all. Students will gain the most important feature of using a computer whether it’s on the Windows XP or Windows Vista operating system. The file management system will be the bulk of this class as well as navigating in Windows and Introduction to the Internet. Pre-paid registration is required.

Computer Café (18 hrs)
This course is for students who would like an overview of basic computing techniques and major applications. It is designed to provide the student with a thorough overview of new software purchases as well as to increase the knowledge of existing software. Major topics covered include: Basic Hardware, Windows XP, Internet techniques, Word, Excel, and QuickBooks. Also discussed will be PowerPoint, Access, Quicken, and TurboTax.

Computer Initiation and the Internet –Slow Paced(18-24 hrs)
Computer Initiation is a slow-paced computer course for the very beginner that has never turned a computer on or has very minimal experience. This course is taught by a patient and caring instructor who will guide you completely through this course stress free! This course is for the newcomer’s to the computer world from using the mouse to learning how to surf the Internet and send email. By the end of this course, students will not be afraid of the computer and learn how to navigate the computer to expedite the learning process for other computer programs for employment opportunities.

Computer Intermediate and Email-(24hrs)
Computer Intermediate is an excellent course to follow after the Computer Initiation course. Participants learn about CD’s, CD-R and CD-RW, how to burn CDs, DVD’s and downloading video, installing software, downloading from the Internet, Scanning, downloading photos to the PC from a digital camera, hardware components, and backing up files. Computer Maintenance will teach you how to perform maintenance on your computer such as deleting temporary files, emptying the recycle bin, running defragmenter, overcoming computer freezes, opening the computer to replace or upgrade computer parts, basic troubleshooting and internet security for spyware and viruses. This course also covers how to send and receive email using the outlook program or a free email service.

This course is designed for beginner students or for users who need to refresh their typing skills and would like to reach a goal to increase keyboard productivity in the workplace. This course will utilize software that will coach the user on how to commit to memory the characters of the keyboard while building speed and accuracy. Windows VISTA /XP and the Internet-(24hrs)
Windows Vista is a radical departure from the Windows versions of yesteryear. VISTA is an operating system that is replacing the highly successful Windows XP computer and is now the standard when buying a new computer. VISTA includes greatly enhanced security and is useful in home environments as well as the most demanding business environments. This system offers some really cool multimedia features including games, movies, DVDs, photos, and more. The file system has changed as well in locating files. By the end of this course, students will learn how to navigate around the Windows Vista operating system in comparison to Windows XP as well as how to navigate on the Internet.
