CDL Test Preparation Course (12 Hrs)

This 12-hour course is a preparation class for individuals wanting to take the written tests required to obtain a CDL Class A or B learner’s permit. The class includes instruction and review of General Knowledge, Air Brakes, and Combination Vehicle sections of the North Carolina Commercial Driver’s Manual. Participant must be at least 18 years old, be able to read, write, and speak English at a level well enough to benefit from the course, and provide proof of identity as required by Section 1.4 of the Driver’s Manual. Minimum of 10 students for class to develop. Participant must bring current copy of the Driver’s Manual (available from DMV office) to class.

Refresher Training for Truck Drivers SS*

This 40 hour course is a refresher for former truck drivers wanting to re-enter the workforce. The course includes review of Federal Regulations required for entry level drivers, pre-trip inspections, backing maneuvers, and highway driving. Participants must hold a current Class-A CDL, with no restriction for air-brakes, and a valid DOT medical card. A pre-enrollment drug screen is required as well as a 3-year MVR with no conviction in the past 2 years for DUI, careless and reckless, hit and run, or refusal to take a chemical test. You must pre-register at least one week prior to the beginning of class.
