Con Ed Courses at Cleveland Center
Non self-supporting courses are free to senior citizens aged 65 or older. There are no fee exemptions allowed for self-supporting courses. The registration fee must be paid by all class participants. Registration fees vary depending upon cost of the course and minimum enrollment of students. No refunds are permitted for withdrawal from self-supporting courses unless the course is canceled by the College. Self-supporting courses are noted by (SS) beside the course title. For senior computer courses, all students must pay the technology fee regardless of age.
This slower-paced class is designed for beginner students or for users with little experience. This course will cover basic skills and concepts needed to use a computer. Learning objectives will include: opening and closing programs, saving and managing files, making back-up files to a CD or USB memory stick, and computer maintenance (defragmenting). The class will establish a solid foundation for making learning other computer applications easier on any Windows operating system. No book required, handouts given. Preregistration is required. Additional information: Blank CD and USB memory stick recommended, but not required.

A slower-paced class, designed for students new to digital photography. Participants will learn how to create, use, publish, and email digital images on the computer. Students will learn how to edit digital photos with ArcSoft PhotoStudio. Preregistration is required.
Prerequisites: Basic understanding of computers and internet use required; A digital camera is not required.

This slower-paced class is designed for intermediate students with experience using computers and digital cameras. This course will review basic skills of viewing and printing digital photos. Additional topics will include editing digital home videos, organizing and playing your music collection, and enjoying all your media with Media Center. Book is recommended (especially for VISTA users), but not required. Windows XP users welcome. Preregistration is required.
Prerequisites: Computer experience necessary, Senior Adult Computer Photo course

This is an introductory course, covering the fundamentals of computers and the Internet with the opportunity for hands-on practice. Basics of computers including hardware, windows, word processing, spreadsheet, and email will be reviewed. Information you need to research a subject, to buy and sell, and to keep your operating software up to date will be discussed. Preregistration is required.

Students get an introduction to the basic principals in either oil or acrylic painting. Techniques taught include canvas preparation and various painting styles. Instruction includes design, color, and composition. Students only need to bring a sketchbook and pencil for the first class. A supply list will be given at the first class.
*NOTE: Students with some painting experience are welcome to join us and will work on independent projects. Instructor will demonstrate new techniques designed to enhance creativity and skill.

We all have stress in our lives but sometimes it can become overwhelming. Why not come to a class to learn more about stress, how we can better handle it and also have a place that we can talk about our stresses! The 2young2retire course is a process that helps you get clear about your choices and future possibilities. Working with a 2young2retire Certified Facilitator and Life Coach, you’ll discover what matters most to you and where your skills and experience could be put to good purpose. Who am I? What am I doing here? We start asking these big questions, in one form or another, around age 50. What if your big answers could launch a whole new, more meaningful life in the years ahead? We will discuss topics like: work that matters, have you ever considered being your own boss, money-what are my thoughts about it, wellness, and travel. Optional book available for purchase from instructor (approx. $30). Preregistration is required.
