Online Certificate Programs
Certificate Programs are designed utilizing a series of courses that make up the certificate program. These programs require specific attendance requirements and test exam requirements for each course. For more information, please call (919) 209-2108.
Certificate Program Requirements
To Receive Credit (CEU's)
To receive continuing education credit from JCC, you must complete quiz 1 by the 10% point which is the first Friday following your first lesson and you must also complete the final exam by passing with 85% or higher. Failure to complete both requirements will result in no credit for taking any class in the certificate program.
To enroll in any of the following online certificate programs, each student must go to www.ed2go.com/jcc and click on “Orientation” for the class listed in your program. A registration form can be found on this website that must be completed and sent in 5 days prior to the start date by mail, fax, or walk-in. After completing each course in your program, you must submit your exam grade and ALL your assignments throughout your course to pwparrish@johnstoncc.edu. This certificate program ensures that participants can design and maintain web pages with HTML and JavaScript as well as incorporate graphics and layers, format pages with text, images, links, and tables. This certificate is earned by completing the online courses in the list below.
- Creating Web Pages I and II (2 courses)
- Any Graphic Design course
- Any Web Programming class of your choice
- Introduction to Flash or Fireworks
- Dreamweaver
- Designing Effective Websites
These courses may be taken in any order except for the I and II series and SEVEN courses must be completed. Students are required to complete the online exam with a score of 85% and students are expected to email each of the online exam scores and all assignments to pwparrish@johnstoncc.edu.
This certificate program is designed for those who want to explore or extend their knowledge and effectiveness in a managerial role. This certificate is earned by completing the online courses in the list below:
- Leadership
- Fundamentals of Supervision & Management I & II (2 courses)
- Mastery of Business Fundamentals
- Mastery of Business Applications
- Employment Law Fundamentals
- Keys to Effective Communication
- "OR" High Speed Project Management
All six courses must be completed in no specific order. Other recommended courses include:
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Achieving Success with Difficult People
- Principles of Sales Management
These courses may be taken in any order except for the I and II series and SIX courses must be completed. Students are required to complete the online exam with a score of 85% and students are expected to email each of the online exam scores and all assignments to pwparrish@johnstoncc.edu.
Business Accounting CP - Online Only
This certificate program ensures that participants can crunch numbers, analyze data, and run a business profession utilizing the following most popular used programs. This certificate is earned by completing the online courses in the list below.
- Introduction to Business Analysis
- Accounting Fundamentals I
- Accounting Fundamentals II
- Introduction to Excel 2003 or 2007
- Introduction to QuickBooks 2007
- Performing Payroll in QuickBooks 2007
These courses may be taken in any order except for the I and II series and SIX courses must be completed. Students are required to complete the online exam with a score of 85% and students are expected to email each of the online exam scores and all assignments to pwparrish@johnstoncc.edu.
Medical Office Assistant: Online or Hybrid
The Medical Office Assistant program teaches students the skills necessary for employment in a medical facility or physician’s office. Upon completion of the Medical Office Assistant program, the student will possess the knowledge and skills required in the areas of Basic Computer knowledge, Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology, CPT/ICD 9 Medical billing and coding, HIPPA Compliance, Medical Transcription and Handling Medical Emergencies to function successfully in an entry level position as a Medical Office Assistant.

- Anatomy and Physiology (online only)
