Job Searching Using Technology (32 Hours)

This course is designed to enhance the job seeker’s ability to use technology in the job search process. The instruction presented in this class will focus on assessing one’s technology literacy, developing a basic understanding and development of moderate computer skills. Students will use technology in implementing job search strategies, use technology in creating employment related documents (resume, cover letters, applications and electronic portfolios) and understand the impact of social networking on employment. *Class fee may be waived if financial eligibility requirements are met (unemployed, underemployed, received notice of a layoff).

Attendees will learn how to sign up, build a profile and add work experience and education. Additional information will be given on how to accept and send invitations, messaging, finding and joining groups, following companies, manage LinkedIn settings, and how to use keywords in your profile for career development.

Notary Public

This-six hour class is required for people who wish to apply through the NC Secretary of State’s Office to become commissioned. A minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 students will be accepted.

Participants must present a valid picture ID prior to entering class. Attendees
must have a GED or Diploma in order to obtain a Notary commission and be at least 18 years of age.

Due to mandated course hour requirements, participants arriving 20 minutes
late will not be permitted into the class.

Using a combination of lively informational sessions, group activities, and interactive discussions, a positive review of the senior years and the aging process will be covered. Participants will learn useful tools and information to encourage them as they confront some of the hallmarks of the senior years. Pre-registration is required.
