There are no fee exemptions allowed for self-supporting courses. The registration fee must be paid by all class participants. Registration fees vary depending upon cost of the course and minimum enrollment of students. Taking Watercolor Lightly (SS*)
Class will include individual and/or group oriented demonstrations of watercolor techniques depending on subject matter determined by the desires of students and class. Personal instruction and critique of work through to completed artwork. Intended to encourage students to think about subject being painted and challenges each artist to explore the full potential that watercolor can offer as a media with a majority of the class devoted to painting. Applied Guitar (Beginners) – Get Playing Right Away (SS*) - NEW CLASS!

The purpose of this class is to get you playing right away. Although designed to help beginners get started, it is also helpful for players who want to “fill in the gaps” in their knowledge of the guitar.
The idea is to get you playing right away.
This course will cover fingerboard knowledge, basic techniques, chords, strumming, and basics of finger-style technique. Most of the music played in this class is American popular and folk styles. Through listening, this class will provide an overview of the many different styles of music written for this instrument including classical, jazz, blues, folk, rock and pop.

The Guitar Ensemble I is a learning-based ensemble that play acoustic instruments.
Unlike playing guitar in a rock band, this group offers its participants a change to play in a larger orchestra-like setting. The repertoire primarily consists of classical and jazz pieces specially arranged for the group. All of this culminates in a unique experience that teaches new skills.
No audition is required, but students must possess basic note reading in the first position on the guitar neck.

Guitar Essentials (SS*)
Come and learn the basic chords and rhythms and some easy popular songs and riffs. Learn simple techniques for playing the guitar. Perform a repertoire of simple enjoyable pieces. Develop and improve your skills for those who already play the guitar. You must provide your own gui-tar and music manuscript book. If you want to learn guitar in Johnston County, then this course if for you! No previous knowledge of the guitar is necessary for this class. The following topics will be covered, though parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class: Learn basic music theory, rhythm strumming patterns and chords, examine simple playing techniques, learn to read tablature, play popular songs like Wild Thing, House of the Rising Sun, Louie Louie, and more.
