Green Burial

What is green burial? It is burial that can take place without the use of formaldehyde-based embalming, metal caskets, and concrete burial vaults. It is essentially the way most of humanity has cared for its dead for thousands of years up until the late 19th century. Green burials take place in natural cemeteries which are located in pine forests, creating memorial ecosystems.

This course meets the North Carolina Board of Funeral Service continuing education requirement and the standards of the Green Burial Council. Note: Pocket Cards are required for admission and CE credit. Contact Jackie Seare at 919-209-2595 for additional information.

Introduction to Programmable Logic Control (PLC’s)

Programmable logic controllers typically contain a variable number of input/output (I/O) ports, and are usually Reduced Instruction Set Computer (RISC) based. They are designed for real time use, and often must withstand harsh environments on the shop floor. PLC circuitry monitors the status of multiple sensor inputs, which control output actuators, which may be things like motor starters, solenoids, lights and displays or valves. All of these PLC characteristics will be discussed during class, and lab time will be used to troubleshoot real world situations.
