The advising program aspires to guide and empower students of diverse backgrounds to utilize a full range of resources and opportunities in order to attain their personal and intellectual goals.

Mission Statement

The Center for Academic Planning (CAP) is committed to fostering collaborative relationships between the Advisor and Advisee that empower students to take charge of their academic, career and personal aspirations. Our purpose is to guide our students to become self-directed learners and decision-makers.

Goals of the CAP

The Center for Academic Planning will strive to:

• Engage students in developing an educational plan consistent with their life goals and objectives.
• Provide accurate information about institutional policies, procedures, resources, articulation agreements and programs.
• Mentor students as they explore and clarify their values and educational and life goals.
• Communicate regularly with students to monitor and evaluate their educational progress.
• Continue to evaluate and improve academic advising via an ongoing assessment program.
• Ensure students have access to well-informed advisors who demonstrate care and respect.
• Provide leadership opportunities on campus for the student body.
• Provide support, training and organized processes for faculty advisors to ensure the best possible advising relationship between advisor and student.
