JCC Announces Literary Competition Winners September 8, 2004

Johnston Community College announced this year’s winners of the Cynthia DeFord Adams Literary Competition on Wednesday, September 1, during a reception held on the College’s campus. The competition, began by Ms. Adams, a Four Oaks poet, is held annually and its purpose is to encourage writing among the JCC student body. Open to full and part-time students, the competition awards prizes in two categories, poetry and prose. The competition committee selected the top three competitors for poetry and prose. Each first place winner received $125, second garnered $100 each, and third place received $50. Winners for the poetry division are: first place: Michelle McLaughlin second place: Kimberly Wood, third place: Robbie Adams. In the division of prose, Gwen Gray took the top honor, Joseph Davis, second place, and Leonard Ballard, third place. |
