Hunt Awarded Coca-Cola Scholarship September 27, 2004
Hunt, who is currently in the General Education program at JCC, would like to eventually pursue a career as a pediatric nurse. "I just love children and I like helping people so the decision to be a pediatric nurse seems to be a perfect match for me," states Hunt. Hunt began taking nursing assistant classes through the Huskins Bill during her sophomore year at Smithfield Selma High School. She volunteered fifty-six hours at Wayne Memorial Hospital as part of her studies and has also donated her time to various Blood Drives and with the Salvation Army. Hunt was nominated for the Coca-Cola Scholarship based on her grade point average and hours of community service. As part of the selection process, applicants had to write an essay. Hunt chose to write about No Child Left Behind, a bill reauthorizing and amending the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, signed by President Bush in 2001. |
