Student Support Services at JCC Holds Ribbon Cutting February 27, 2002
The office has been serving JCC students since the opening of spring semester classes in January. After welcoming guests to the ceremony, JCC President Don Reichard stressed the importance of community college Student Support Services programs. Dr. Lawrence Rouse, dean of Student Services at JCC, said that two important goals of the office will be "getting students through the two-year program and assisting those students with enrollment in four-year institutions." The Student Support Services office at JCC is made possible by a $195,000 Department of Education Grant. The program provides counseling and tutorial services for students in need of assistance. The office is located just off the Student Lounge in the Wilson Building on the Smithfield campus.
