Artist Frank Creech Unveils Portion of New Sculpture The Rescue September 4, 2002 Local artist and JCC faculty member Frank Creech unveiled a finished portion of the sculpture, The Rescue during Johnston Community College Foundation's Donor Appreciation Dinner. Creech began the work as a way to show his appreciation to the community, which after fire destroyed his art studio in February of 1999, responded with a tremendous amount of support. The Rescue, when complete, will stand approximately thirteen feet tall and is made of concrete and cast bronze. Symbolic of the helping hand, the sculpture depicts a person reaching down from a perilous rocky ledge to a desperate person struggling to keep afloat. Once completed, "The Rescue" will reside on the campus at Johnston Community College.
