Johnston Community College President Donald Reichard Receives Long Leaf Pine Award August 13, 2002
The honor was presented during the Johnston Community College Foundation's Donor Appreciation Dinner on August 8. The dinner is an annual event for the JCC Foundation to recognize donors and scholarship recipients. The Order of the Long Leaf Pine award is the State of North Carolina's highest honor presented to an individual for dedication and extended length of service to his or her organization. U.S. Rep Bob Etheridge presented the award to Dr. Reichard. Reichard is a native of Pennsylvania where he began his involvement in education in1972 as an instructor of political science and history. A community college president since 1989, he spent nine years at James Sprunt Community College in Kenansville before his arrival at JCC in 1999. Reichard sits on the boards of the North Carolina Association of Colleges and Universities, Leadership North Carolina, Smithfield-Selma Chamber of Commerce, and Johnston County YMCA. He is a member of First Baptist Church in Clayton and resides in Clayton with his wife, Mary Best Reichard and stepdaughter, Carmen Blanton. |
