Johnston Community College Foundations Awards Mini-Grants

The JCC Foundation annually awards mini-grants to be used by the College's faculty and staff to enhance educational opportunities at JCC.  The Foundation recently awarded ten $500 mini-grants for 2002-2003.  For further information about the JCC Foundation call Judy Miller at 209-2115.

The Staff Development Committee was awarded a grant to promote and strengthen the professional development of JCC's staff personnel.

The JCC music department received a grant to purchase elementary music equipment and textbooks. Procurement of these resources will allow the music department to offer elementary music instruction to students in the Associate of Fine Arts (Music) and Early Childhood programs.

The Nursing Department will use their grant for computer and instructional materials for the Nursing Success Seminar. The Seminar is used as a tool to introduce incoming students to the nursing curriculum and to assist students already in the program. It emphasizes strategies for successful completion of the nursing program to prepare nurses for the work force.
