Medical Assisting Pinning Ceremony Held at Johnston Community College July 30, 2002 Twelve women were recently pinned at Johnston Community College signifying completion of the required coursework for the Medical Assisting Certificate program. This is the first graduating class of the program, which is a new curriculum program for JCC. The Medical Assisting program prepares an individual to be a multi-skilled health care professional qualified to perform administrative, clinical, and laboratory procedures. Course work includes instruction in scheduling appointments, coding and processing insurance accounts, billing, collections, medical transcription, computer operations, assisting with examinations/treatments, performing routine laboratory procedures, electrocardiography, supervised medication administration; and ethical/legal issues associated with patient care.
